    Wild boar occupy an extremely exalted social position within Papuan society. They are the standard marker of wealth, power and influence in an essentially tribal context, where beads,  Boar tusks, jewellery, feathers and pig/dog teeth take the place of currency exchange during festivals known as Kula. The value of such pieces are were very clear social signals of authority.
